Urrá is only 5 minutes from Sorbas by car, it is a farmhouse in the middle of nature, isolated but well communicated. The farmhouses are equipped as Rural Accommodation and Field Centre and are ideal for a stay of several days learning and studying the biology and geology of the area, practising sports such as hiking and caving in the caves of the Karst in Yesos de Sorbas and doing activities such as bird watching and stargazing. Depending on the cortijo there is capacity from a few people to large groups, even with catering service.
In the "Cortijo Rural Urrá", the rooms are double rooms, all with private bathroom with bathtub, in addition, the bedrooms on the first floor have kitchen, dining room and living room, ideal as a flat. In this farmhouse there is also a large living room with kitchen, available for all kinds of events.
In the "Urra Field Centre" there are double rooms and multiple rooms with bunk beds and communal bathrooms, it is a reference for university groups doing their Field Trips in Almeria.
Casa Linda" is a small house with only one bedroom. It has a fully equipped kitchen and washing machine.
Urrá began its activity with a farmhouse as a Field Study Centre in 1990. Later, in 2003, the other farmhouses were converted into Rural Accommodation. In 2020 some of the facilities have been remodelled and improved, thus updating the services offered.
Currently the Cortijos Urrá form a complex of rural and nature tourism that offers accommodation for groups of up to 100 people, ideal for the study of nature, development of courses related to environmental science and adventure sports and why not, a retreat to connect with nature.
The outdoor areas of Cortijos Urrá are at the disposal of those groups who wish to carry out outdoor activities, in an unusual and spectacular landscape, to organise convivial days, family gatherings, nature workshops and active tourism.
In addition, the Cortijos Urrá, due to their location, privacy and exclusivity, are ideal for holding events and celebrations. There are different spaces: The large hall of the Cortijo Rural; the dining rooms of the Field Centre or its outdoor patio; and the Era, cobbled since 1884, stands out above all.
The Urrá estate, where the farmhouses are located, has more than 90 hectares and is entirely within the protected natural area of Karst en Yesos de Sorbas, famous for its spectacular caves excavated by the action of water on the crystalline gypsum rock. Outside the karst are the abandoned farmhouses of El Marchalico de las Viñicas, El Tesoro and El Hueli. Also, and above all, the spring of Molinos del Río Aguas and the neighbourhood of Los Molinos, which has been converted into an eco-village with different projects for conservation and life in nature.
The location of Urrá is strategic, within half an hour's drive you will find the most important geological formations in the province of Almería, the volcanic area of the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park and the badlands of the Tabernas Desert Natural Park. Also, at that distance are the mountains of the Sierra de los Filabres and the Carboneras fault... even the coasts of Vera and Mojácar.
